What it is

An industry pack adds the screens and rules one trade needs on top of the standard app. Three are available:

  • Pharmacy & expiry-dated goods — lots drawn soonest-expiry first, an Expiry watch report and a Lot recall report.
  • Construction & contracting — progress claims in the interim-certificate shape, with retention held in its own receivable and released in two halves.
  • Garments & CMT — cost sheets from the marker and a fabric reconciliation with a cut-make-trim contractor.

Packs add screens and rules; they never remove data. Switching one off hides its screens again.

Who it is for

  • Pharmacies and anyone else selling goods with expiry dates.
  • Contractors who bill by monthly progress claims with retention.
  • Garment makers and buyers who work with CMT contractors.

Before you start#

  • Only the owner switches packs on or off.
  • Pharmacy needs lot tracking switched on (Settings › Inventory); the pack page says so if it is missing.
  • Settings › Localization & packs also lists the country packs (tax and e-invoicing) — see Tax packs and e-invoicing.

Step by step#

  1. Open Settings › Localization & packs.
  2. Find the pack and tick it on.
  3. Read its "How it works" steps on the same page; its screens are linked there while it is on.
  4. Open the new screens: construction and garments appear under Industry tools in the menu; the pharmacy reports appear in Reports.

Pharmacy & expiry-dated goods#

  1. Switch on lot tracking and record lots with their expiry dates when goods arrive.
  2. Sales draw the lot that expires soonest first.
  3. Expiry watch (Reports, Inventory group) lists lots that expire soon or already have, with their value at cost, so they can be sold, returned or written off in time.
  4. Lot recall lists every customer who received a lot, with the documents and where the lot came from, so you can contact them.

Construction & contracting#

Open Industry tools › Progress claims.

  1. Add a contract: the client, the contract sum, the retention % and, optionally, a cap as a % of the contract.
  2. Each month add a claim: work completed to date (as a % or a value), approved variations and materials on site. The certificate works out the gross valuation, the retention held (never above the cap), what earlier certificates covered and this claim's amount due.
  3. Invoice the client for the claim as usual, then choose Post retention on the claim with that invoice.
  4. At practical completion add a claim with Release half; after the defects period, Release the rest.
  5. The Retention report shows what each contract holds, how much of it is in the books, and the retention receivable balance per client from the ledger.

Garments & CMT#

Open Industry tools › CMT costing.

  1. Cost sheet: enter the size ratio with each size's fabric consumption (per piece or per dozen, from the marker), the marker efficiency and cutting wastage, the fabric price, trims per piece, the CMT charge per dozen and overhead %.
  2. It shows fabric per piece and fabric to buy, cost per piece against the FOB price, and the margin per piece and on the whole order. Save it under the style and buyer to start the next order from it.
  3. Fabric reconciliation: record fabric issued to the CMT contractor and returned, pieces delivered and rejected, and the agreed allowance. A reject still used its fabric; what is not accounted for, and the rejects, are what to charge the contractor.

How it posts to the books#

  • Construction: posting retention moves the retention held from Accounts receivable to Retention receivable — owed, but not yet due. Posting a release moves it back to Accounts receivable. The claim's invoice itself posts like any sales invoice.
  • Pharmacy: nothing extra posts; lots move with the normal stock movements, and write-offs go through stock adjustments.
  • Garments: cost sheets and the fabric reconciliation are working tools; purchases, issues and receipts post through the normal documents.

Limits and what is not there yet#

  • A pack that is listed as planned cannot be switched on yet.
  • The pharmacy pack does not add its own menu; its two reports live in Reports.

Questions#

Do I lose data if I switch a pack off?

No. Packs never remove data; switching one off hides its screens, and switching it on again shows them with everything still there.

Why is the Expiry watch report empty?

Lot tracking must be on, and lots must be recorded with expiry dates when goods arrive.

Can retention go above the cap?

No. The certificate never holds more retention than the cap you set on the contract.

Can I use more than one pack?

Yes. Each pack is switched on separately, and country packs can be on at the same time.
