What it is

A localisation pack adds what one country needs on top of the global product. That can be a statutory invoice layout, a national e-invoice format and its tax portal connection, a VAT return filed online, or a local payment rail printed on invoices. The core of the app stays the same in every country. A pack is switched on per business, and its screens and fields appear only while it is on.

Settings › Localization & packs lists every pack. It suggests the ones for your business's country and shows the planned ones, so you can see what is coming.

Who it is for

  • Businesses in a country with mandatory e-invoicing or clearance
  • Businesses that file VAT or corporation tax online
  • Sellers who want customers to pay through a local rail such as M-Pesa, Pix or ACH
  • Accountants who set up a business's statutory details once

Note National e-invoice profiles are built to the published specification and are not certified. Every file the app produces says so.

Before you start#

  • Only the owner, or a person who may open Localization & packs, can switch a pack on and connect a tax portal.
  • Fill your tax registration number in Settings › Business information (Tax registration), for example a VAT number, GSTIN, NIP or KRA PIN.
  • Have your portal credentials ready: a certificate, an access point, a PAC, an integrator or a portal sign-in, depending on the country.

Step by step#

  1. Open Settings › Localization & packs. Choose Show all countries if your country's pack is not suggested.
  2. Tick your country's pack to switch it on.
  3. Read the pack's How it works steps shown under it, and fill the fields the pack adds (for example a branch, a CRN, a tax regime or an item classification code).
  4. Fill the buyer details the pack needs on your customers, such as their tax number.
  5. Approve an invoice, then choose E-invoice… on it. The file is checked rule by rule before anything is sent.
  6. In the e-invoice window's Tax portal block, connect the tax office, access point or provider.
  7. Issue the e-invoice. Until a portal is connected it is a mock, clearly labelled, and nothing reaches the tax office.

What packs do#

E-invoices

On an approved invoice, E-invoice… builds the country's format and checks it before sending. For example:

  • India: the IRP JSON, issued with its IRN and signed QR. An IRN can be cancelled at the tax office within 24 hours; after that, correct it with a credit note.
  • Saudi Arabia: UBL XML with the hash chain and QR, cleared or reported. Connecting ZATCA uses the OTP from the FATOORA portal; the app makes your own signing key and certificate request.
  • EU, Belgium, Singapore, UAE: Peppol UBL in the national profile, sent through your Peppol access point or service provider.
  • Germany: XRechnung UBL goes over Peppol; a CII file or ZUGFeRD PDF is downloaded and e-mailed instead.
  • Mexico: the CFDI 4.0 XML, sealed with your CSD and stamped by your PAC.
  • Poland: the FA(3) structured invoice, checked against the official schema and KSeF's own rules.
  • Malaysia, Peru, Türkiye, Kenya, Brazil: MyInvois UBL, SUNAT factura or boleta, UBL-TR through your integrator, eTIMS through your OSCU device, and NF-e (and NFC-e for till sales) through SEFAZ.

A credit note is issued in the matching format where the country has one. Cancelling an e-invoice at the tax office never changes your books; to reverse the sale, issue a credit note or void the invoice.

Returns and filings

  • United Kingdom VAT: the 9-box return is built from your tax ledger and filed to HMRC through Making Tax Digital once you sign in with HMRC.
  • United Kingdom Corporation Tax: prepare the CT600 in income tax filings. Someone other than the preparer approves it, then Send to HMRC sends it with the tax computation and the accounts as iXBRL.
  • Bangladesh: the Mushak-6.3 invoice layout, and the Mushak returns and books in country forms.

Payment rails

M-Pesa, Pix and ACH packs print your payment details on invoices with the invoice as the reference, so the bank statement can be matched back. Set them under Payment rails.

Limits and what is not there yet#

  • National e-invoice profiles are built to the published specification and are not certified.
  • Until a tax portal, access point or provider is connected, sending is a mock and nothing is filed.
  • A country that requires a certified e-invoice or fiscal device not covered by a pack is not supported yet.
  • Some filings stay with your adviser, for example amended CT600 returns and supplementary pages.

Questions#

Can I switch on more than one pack?

Yes. Packs are switched on one by one. A business can use its country pack together with an EU Peppol pack or a payment rail.

Is my e-invoice really sent?

Only after you connect the tax portal or provider in the Tax portal block. Before that it is a mock, labelled as such.

Where are my portal passwords kept?

They are sealed on the server and never shown again. A password is used only when a document or return is sent.

My country is not listed. What can I do?

Use the standard tax rates and returns, which work in every country. Planned packs are shown on the same settings screen.
